Seven Lamas Completed Three Years Retreat

On 2nd December 2011, Lama Karma Tsering, Lama Sonam Tsering, Lama Wangchuk Topden, Lama Ngawang Dhondup, Lama Kalsang Tsering, Lama Tashi Wangchuk, and Lama Karma Pasang completed the three-year three-month retreat at the Thrangu Sekhar Retreat Center just outside of Bhaktapur. In addition to the traditional three-year retreat, they also spent six months doing Kalachakra practice. In total, they spent nearly four years in retreat.
To celebrate the completion of the retreat, the lamas performed a smoke puja and also offered a mandala and body, speech, and mind to Rinpoche and the retreat masters,  Khenpo Lhaibu and Lama Dawa Purba. The ceremony was also attended by the lamas’ relatives and friends, who offered khatas to them. Both the ceremony and the retreat came to a wonderful conclusion.

14th Namo Buddha Retreat Completed

The 14th annul Namo Buddha Retreat began on 22nd November 2011 at Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, Namo Budha. The retreat was started by the members of Thrangu Dharma Society Petaling Jaya, Malaysia for lay people who wish to take the precepts of the Upasaka (5 precepts) and those who wish to takes the 8 precepts (SodJong vows).
The practice for the 14th Namo Buddha Retreat was on the 1,000 eyes and 1,000 arms Chenrezig. A total of 42 participants from Malaysia and Singapore took part in the retreat. Among them eight men and eight women took the robes and had their head tonsured. The retreat lasted for a week and during this short period the Retreat Master Lama Lodro Thaye took the retreatant to a series of meditation, chanting and explanation of the text.
Susan Wong a retreatant from Kuala Lumpur found the explanation of the text by the retreat master is extremely meaningful. The explanation by Lama helped her in the visualization and brought a new dimension to Dharma Practice.

The Annual Thrangu Tsedrup Puja Completed

The annual prayer for long life and the union of wisdom and method has been completed. The week-long prayer ceremony started on 12th November. All the monks and nuns (including senior lamas, khenpos and teachers) gathered at Namo Buddha to perform the prayers.
On Nov. 17, Chaam, lama dances were performed to bring auspiciousness. It is believed that anyone who attends and watches the dance is blessed and one's obstacles are eradicated.
Starting 18th Nov. the monks and nuns are going to perform Gonpo Mahakala Puja for seven days.
